These power packed berries are grown in the Amazon rainforest in Brazil and taste like a chocolate and berry mixed together. Acai berry are one of the most nutritious foods known to mankind and a bursting with antioxidants, essential fatty acids and amino acids.

It helps promote muscle contraction and cardiovascular and digestive health, as well as reducing the effects of premature aging.

Researchers from Texas A&M University agree and say that if we drink acai berry juice daily, we can significantly increase the amount of antioxidants in our blood, which helps to improve the neurological processes in our brains.

We could incorporate acai berries into our breakfast menu by adding them to our cereal, drinking acai juice or blending them into a smoothie.

Dr Mehmet Oz, host of the Dr Oz Show, created his own list of the top 5 superfoods and suggested that mangosteen would be a great breakfast choice.

Mangosteens are a tropical fruit grown in Indonesia. The Dr Oz Show stated that this delicious fruit is very high in antioxidants as well as in vitamins A and C, both of which assist with improving our brain functions.

While fresh mangosteens can be hard to source, the good news is that is it widely available in juice and tea form So as a breakfast superfood, it is a no-brainer.

This because they also contain high levels of antioxidants as well as phytochemicals which may kill certain liver cancer cells.

Goji berries may be one we do not commonly hear about. The goji berry, also known as the Chinese Wolfberry, is a bright red-orange berry native to China.

Salmon are particularly suited as a breakfast food because it can be smoked, grilled or poached depending on your preference. It is also not strong tasting like some of the other oily fish, which can prove off putting first thing in the morning.
